Bridge YearÂ
If you are a high school or college senior and are considering a "bridge year" between school and work, or school and more school you've come to the right place!
How do you know if a bridge year is right for you?:
you're burned-out after 12 or 16+ years of schooling
you're not sure what you want to do for a career
you're not sure what your next phase of life should be
you're confused about what you are good at
you're frustrated by the variety of career choices
What is a 'bridge year'?
Sometimes called a 'gap year' because it is a "gap" between school and work or school and more school, a bridge year provides a break between school and work. Typically students choose to travel somewhere and work or perform some community service project.
Why our approach is different
Unlike other 'gap year' programs, we're not selling you a travel plan. Our whole mission is to ensure that the student knows and understands themselves so they can make an informed decision that will affect the rest of their life. We purposely don't call it a 'gap year' because we don't look at it as a gap. We believe it really is a bridge - a bridge from one phase to another. An informed, purpose-driven bridge which links the student's education, talents, interests and skills to the next phase of their life - their working life. Nothing is more important than choosing fulfilling, meaningful work. So take this time, this precious bridge time, to discover what that really means to you or someone you love!

Brenda's Story
I spent 22 years in a career that was not right for me and that's why I am passionate about young people making the right career choice early in their work life. After college, I applied for the first job I thought I could do - as a Purchasing Agent, and I got it. That decision resulted in 22 years of progressive advancement within the Procurement/Contract Management profession. I was good at it, but it was not something I was passionate about. I finally left that profession for one that I am passionate about: Coaching. But I can't help but wonder how much more fulfilling my life could have been had I been doing something I loved all along! The other regret is that I knew what I wanted to do, but I just didn't go for it. I knew I wanted to be in Human Resources, helping people. That's what my study concentration was when I got my undergraduate degree. I even got my Master's in Counseling 11 years later and still didn't make a career change. It's hard, once you're entrenched in a profession to make a change, I know! You feel like you can't 'start over' again. So that's why I'm on a mission to make sure young people make more informed decisions earlier in their career. Don't let it happen to you or someone you love!
